The Major Benefits of Dentures

Restore Your Bite

When you are missing teeth, eating and speaking can be difficult. Dentures restore your bite, allowing you to once again eat the foods you love and speak with confidence.

Restore Your Appearance

Patients living with tooth loss often report feeling self-conscious about their smiles. Dentures can seamlessly fill in the gaps and provide a beautiful and natural-looking appearance.

Traditional vs. Implant Dentures

We can provide both partial and complete dentures that are either removable or supported by dental implants. There are a few key differences that set traditional dentures and implant-supported dentures apart.

traditional dentures

Traditional Dentures

Traditional dentures are removable and rest along the gums. They rely on suction or adhesive to remain securely in place. While traditional dentures are still a great way to replace missing teeth, there is a risk of slippage when you eat or speak.

implant-supported dentures

Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-supported dentures are secured directly to dental implants. Dental implants are titanium posts that act as prosthetic tooth roots. Your dentures will remain firmly in place until they are removed by a dentist for an exam or replacement.

Consultation

During your initial consultation at our Redlands dentistry practice, Dr. Hoffer or Dr. Stilson will examine your mouth and discuss your treatment goals to determine if traditional or implant-supported dentures are best for you.

Preparatory Treatment

If you need implant placement, tooth extractions, or other preparatory treatment, it must be completed before your dentures can be placed. Implant placement and extractions will also require some recovery time.

Impressions

We'll take impressions of your mouth so that our trusted lab can craft your custom dentures. This process typically takes two to three days. Our dental practice uses digital impressions, eliminating the need for messy and uncomfortable dental putty.

Fittings and Adjustments

Once your dentures are ready, you will have an appointment for a fitting. This allows your dentist to make adjustments for an optimal fit and comfort. If you are receiving implant-supported dentures, your dentist will secure them to your implants.

Enjoy Your Smile

All that is left to do is to enjoy your beautifully restored smile! Your dentist will provide you with all the information you need to maintain your dentures for years to come.
